About Social Enterprise Programs

Dedicated to the idea that business can be both socially responsible and profitable, Seva Mandir has spearheaded the creation of several cooperative ventures that aim to empower villagers to take the reins of their own economic destinies and reduce extreme poverty in rural villages. Projects include a dal mill cooperative benefitting 3,500 farmers, an entrepreneurial fish farming effort that employs around 150 villagers, the restoration of historic sites in Delwara resulting in an income-producing heritage walking tour of the town, and a women’s sewing venture that after nearly a decade of Seva Mandir stewardship, has become a full-fledged independent worker-owned business.
